Bodegas Arrayán emerged as the personal project of the businessman Jose Maria Entrecanales and María Marsans in their farm "La Verdosa", in Santa Cruz del Retamar, Toledo.

Arrayán Wineries was born with ambition: the aim was to create a vineyard based on innovative viticulture techniques that were perfectly integrated into the ecosystem of the Mediterranean pasture and are capable of producing high quality wines with their own strong personality.

For this, the renowned Australian expert, Richard Smart, carried out an exhaustive study of the topography, soil, climate, most favorable orientations and exposures and the varieties that best suited the purpose sought.

In 1999, the planting of the varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Petit Verdot started, respecting in full the native forest of oaks that surrounds the vineyard.

The first harvest began to be marketed in late 2003. Since then, the Arrayán family of wines has grown to include, at present, an excellent lineup, consisting of four red wines aged with aging in oak barrels, two of them are mono-varietal -Arrayán Syrah and Arrayán Petit Verdot- and two coupages of the four varieties: Arrayán Selection and Arrayán Premium – and a young wine: Arrayán Rosé.

All the Arrayán Wineries wines are included under the Méntrida PDO

  • Aging: In the beginning of the winter, the wines enter in French oak barrels for their adequate aging.
